Seasoned restaurateurs Nicholas and his father, Idilio DeVellis, opened Marcello’s Italian Eatery & Bar in January 2023, nestled in Clock Tower Square at 477 Main Street, Monroe, CT. Drawing on decades of family tradition, the DeVellis family—whose culinary legacy includes Giove’s Pizza in Trumbull and Shelton—created Marcello’s as a modern Italian eatery with a rustic soul and a welcoming neighborhood vibe. Named in honor of Nicholas’s late grandfather, Marcello’s is a heartfelt tribute to the family dinner table—where every meal celebrates connection, conversation, and craft. Both Nicholas and Idilio serve as Executive Chefs, combining passion and precision in the kitchen, while Nicholas also takes on the role of the restaurant’s warm and enthusiastic host. “I grew up in this business and thoroughly enjoy it,” says Nicholas. “The restaurant continues to evolve—we’ve added comforting new dishes, creative cocktails, and a live music program that fills the space with energy and community. It’s beautiful to see people come together here.”
